A dual infrared and visible-light imaging camera, the Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera can be used to find faults before system failure and/or significant damage is incurred. It can be used to inspect and troubleshoot electrical distribution boards, motors, bearings, and water supplies and electrical systems in buildings.

Thermal & Optical Imaging

The Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera has an IR resolution of 160x120px and a thermal field-of-view of 25° x 19°. Its thermal focus is manually set. Additionally, this camera has a visible-light resolution of 5MP and a visible-light field-of-view of 59°.

The user can view and capture thermal, visible-light and combined images and footage. Combined images overlay visual details onto an infrared frame, thereby increasing the clarity of thermal pictures. The combined imaging mode improves the speed, ease and precision of identifying sources of faults. The Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera also includes a range of other imaging features and functions such as:

  • Four selectable thermal palettes
  • 32x digital zoom

Cursors, as well as the automatic indication of hot spots, cold spots and the central temperature, ensure that thermal images are simple to read; while the Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera’s fast frame rate, 50Hz, makes monitoring quick temperature changes easy.  

The Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera can measure temperatures and temperature differences between -20°C and +350°C to an accuracy of ±2°C/2%. Readings can be displayed in °C, °F or K. To help the user with gathering the correct temperature data, the Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera includes a laser pointer which enables him/her to see the exact measurement area.

Extensive Storage

The Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera features 100MB of internal storage and is supplied with an 8GB microSD card which can be used to store over 6000 images. It is also possible to save thermal and visible-light videos; footage can be saved with audio notes. Additionally, videos may be streamed in real-time via HDMI or USB.

To enable the transfer of videos and images to a PC, the Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera is supplied with a card reader. A download link to Metrel’s PC software is also included; this software can be used to analyse images and create reports.

Practical Design

The Metrel MD 9930 Thermal Imaging Camera has an ingress protection rating of IP54 and has been drop-tested from 2m, making it suitable for use in rugged environments. It is also equipped with a long-life battery and an LED torch.
