The Testo 890 FeverDetection Kit can be used to screen people in public places for elevated body temperature. It is suitable for security checks in airports, railway stations and shopping centres and can be used as part of admission control in offices and production facilities such as factories.
To this end, the Testo 890 FeverDetection Kit includes a Testo 890 Thermal Camera with a FeverDetection function and 42° lens. It has an IR resolution of 640 x 480px and a thermal sensitivity of 40mk. The Testo 890 Thermal Camera also features an HDMI interface to enable transmission of thermal footage to a monitor.
FeverDetection Function
The FeverDetection function measures the relative body temperature of individuals to identify people with above-average temperatures which may be indicative of a fever, a common symptom of many illnesses. Persons with higher-than-average body temperatures can be isolated for further medical screening. Please note that the Testo 890 Thermal Camera is NOT a diagnostic tool and should be used alongside other medical tests and equipment.
The Testo 890 Thermal Camera automatically identifies and measures the hottest part of an individual’s face (usually the corner of the eye). When an above-average body temperature is detected, the Testo 890 Thermal Camera will issue an audible and visual alarm. Please note that to obtain accurate temperature measurements, individuals being screened should remove glasses, face masks and head coverings.
Ambient room temperature can affect body temperature, for instance, people in a warm room will usually have a higher body temperature than people in an air-conditioned room. To account for ambient room temperature, the Testo 890 Thermal Camera saves each successive temperature measurement and uses this data to update the average (mean) body temperature value and subsequently the threshold value. As a result, the Testo 890 Thermal Camera will provide reliable temperature alerts allowing users to make informed decisions regarding medical screening.
The FeverDetection function operates in the following way:
- The user sets the starting value using the expected mean body-surface temperature
- The user sets the tolerance value e.g. +1 or +2°C
- The Testo 890 automatically calculates the threshold value using the start and tolerance data
- The Testo 890 stores readings to continuously update the threshold value
The Testo 890 Thermal Camera with FeverDetection function is a reliable, easy-to-use and efficient body-temperature-screening thermal camera suitable for use in airports, railway stations, shopping centres, offices and factories.
