The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera is designed to function as a non-contact screening tool. It is an infrared imager capable of capturing thermal images and taking non-contact temperature measurements, allowing screening staff and subjects (persons being screened) to maintain compliance with social distancing regulations.

Elevated skin temperature can be indicative of a fever, a common symptom of many illnesses. The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera is US FDA approved for use alongside body thermometers to identify persons who might be ill and may need to self-isolate and/or undergo further medical testing. Please note that the FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera CANNOT be used to diagnose illnesses.

Thermal Imaging

The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera has an infrared resolution of 640 x 480px and can be purchased with either a 24° lens or a 42° lens. The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera’s field-of-view and thermal sensitivity are dependent on the purchased lens. Please see the table below for more details.

SKU Title Thermal Sensitivity  Field-of-View
85901-0101 FLIR A700-EST with 24° Lens  <40 mK @ 30°C/86°F 24° × 18°
85902-0101 FLIR A700-EST with 42° Lens  <30 mK @ 30°C/86°F 42° × 32°

Thermal images only display the distribution and degree of the subject’s body heat; they do not display identifying features. This allows the user to assess the subject’s skin temperature quickly without compromising the subject's privacy. Similarly, to protect subjects’ privacy, thermal images and personal information are not automatically saved.

Screen-EST Mode

The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera includes a dedicated elevated-skin-temperature screening mode designed to improve the reliability, accuracy and speed of temperature checks. When set to Screen-EST mode, the FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera can measure temperatures between 15°C and 45°C to an accuracy of ±0.3°C.

This mode functions by measuring the subject’s skin temperature and comparing it to the average skin temperature plus the user-specified tolerance, e.g. 36°C + 1°C. The average skin temperature is calculated using accumulated subject temperatures. This accounts for changes in ambient conditions that occur naturally over the course of the day, thereby improving the reliability of PASS/ FAIL results.

If the subject’s skin temperature is within the accepted range, a PASS indicator is displayed on the connected monitor (NOT included). However, if the subject’s temperature exceeds the accepted range a FAIL indicator is displayed and an audible alarm is triggered (via a web interface). Individuals who trigger the FAIL indicator and/or audible alarm MUST have their temperature verified using a body thermometer.

In addition to calibration with ambient drift compensation, which enables screening without a reference, the FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera supports blackbody compensation.

FLIR Screen-EST Desktop Software

The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera can be integrated into screening systems using FLIR’s Screen-EST Desktop Software (NOT included). When used with this program, the FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera will automatically begin screening upon detection of a human face. To improve clarity, efficiency and peace of mind, both the screening staff and subjects can view the entire screening process on a connected monitor. The subject’s temperature and the PASS/ FAIL result are displayed on the monitor.

Please note that individuals who trigger the FAIL alert MUST have their temperature verified using a body thermometer.

Easy to Install

The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera can also be integrated into third-party systems. It is compatible with Modbus TCP, MQTT and RESTful API for data transfer and RTSP for video. Compliance with ONVIF provides support for standard security video management systems (VMS) and NVR solutions, while RESTful API over XML or JSON enables integration into web services.

The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera also supports standard Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections and Power over Ethernet. This facilitates single-cable installation. Furthermore, multiple mounting points means the FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera can be connected to a tripod or permanently mounted.

Simple connections and an integrated web browser with an intuitive interface make the FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera simple to set up. The user can begin screening quickly due to the FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera’s limited ramp-up time.

The FLIR A700-EST Fixed Mount Temperature-Screening Thermal Camera is a simple, reliable and practical infrared imager that can be used to prevent the potential spread of infection.
